Green Day Festival

By Dr.Fadhel Al-Mousawi

The fourth annual Green Day festival, which coincides with the college’s foundation day, was recently conducted by the University of Kerbala’s College of Agriculture. This event demonstrates the university’s dedication to sustainability and improving campus life. The Green Day celebration is a multi-faceted event that includes seminars, volunteer campaigns, an exhibition of research and scientific products, and an exhibit of College of Agriculture stuff such as honey, osprey eggs, and decorative plants. Each of these elements is important for fostering sustainability and enriching campus life.

The workshops allow students and faculty to acquire hands-on experience and understanding about sustainable practices. They cover a wide range of subjects, from sustainable agricultural practices to waste management, to developing an environmental responsibility attitude within the university community. Volunteer initiatives, on the other hand, promote active engagement from the university community in sustainability activities. These initiatives frequently include activities such as tree planting and clean-up drives, which not only help to a greener and cleaner campus but also promote a feeling of duty and ownership in participants. The exhibition of research and scientific products highlights the distinctive work being done by faculty and students in the fields of agriculture and sustainability. The College of Agriculture’s products, such as honey, osprey eggs, and beautiful plants, reflect the university’s feasible, hands-on approach to learning.

These natural products demonstrate the university’s dedication to environmental protection. The Green Day celebration at the University of Kerbala is not only an internal event, but it also welcomes people from outside the institution, such as members of the local community and representatives from various businesses. This participation of outside participants is vital in spreading the festival’s effect beyond the academic campus. Finally, the Green Day festival at the University of Kerbala is more than simply an annual event; it is a representation of the university’s commitment to sustainability and improving life on campus. It serves as a reminder of how important educational institutions are in influencing future generations and contributing to a more sustainable society.
